CARE AND MAINTENANCE FOR YOUR GARDENWOOD FLOORING

 

Hardwood floors are an investment for your home.  You want to enjoy your floors and keep them looking good for years to come.  Follow these simple tips and your hardwood floors should last a lifetime.

Daily:
Sweep or dust mop
Weekly:
Vacuum using the bare floor setting
Monthly:
Clean with recommended wood flooring cleaner
Every 3-5 years:
Maintenance coat
Every few decades:
Sand and refinish

 

Sweep and vacuum your floor regularly to prevent dirt and dust from
scratching the finish.

Occasionally clean your hardwood floor with a mop or microfiber mop
using cleaners made for hardwood floors.

Wipe up any spills as soon as possible.

Place a rug or mat by any door or entrance to reduce dirt and moisture
getting tracked into your home and on your hardwood floor.

Use area rugs in well-traveled areas

Use felt floor protectors on your furniture legs to avoid scratches and
indentions.

Avoid wearing shoes with high heels or heel taps or shoes tracking dirt,
oil or grease. Removing your shoes at the door all together if you can.

Do not use a wet mop or water to clean your hardwood floors.

Do not use ammonia-based cleaners, wax-based products, detergents,
bleach, abrasive cleaning soaps, oil soaps, polishes or acidic materials.

Keep pet’s nails trimmed to avoid scratches.

The sun’s rays can cause your floor to discolor.  Consider using
curtains or blinds to reduce UV rays.
